The runway tells its own story.

Across past editions, Africa Fashion Week Nigeria has showcased the breadth of African fashion through the designers, collections and creative perspectives presented on its runway. Each edition has brought a different mix of ideas, silhouettes and interpretations of African style into view.

These images offer a glimpse of that history, captured across different editions of AFWN.

On December 12–13, AFWN 2026 brings that story into its next chapter under the theme AFRICA NOW: The Future Wears Africa, with designers, fashion, culture and commerce taking centre stage at the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History, Lagos.

Which of these moment best captures African fashion for you?

NOTHING ORDINARY ABOUT THESE FRAMES

Some photographs capture an outfit.

Others capture a feeling.

These frames hold the energy, personality and movement that made AFWL2026 what it was.

Street style, through the lens of AFWN 2025.

Beyond the runway, AFWN 2025 gave guests the space to express their own take on African fashion. Through their outfit choices, styling and attention to detail, they brought a different perspective to the fashion on display.

As we look ahead to AFWN 2026, we’re revisiting some of the street-style looks that caught our attention last year, and looking forward to the new interpretations of African fashion the next edition will bring.

In the language of luxury accessories, material, form and craftsmanship are inseparable.

At AFWN 2026, Liscious Crafts & Luxuries brings its perspective on Nigerian luxury to the fore through handcrafted bags that balance function with artistry. Working with leather and exotic skins, the brand places texture, considered detailing and craftsmanship at the heart of its designs.

Each piece occupies the space between utility and wearable art, bringing a contemporary sensibility to luxury accessories.

African fashion moves forward when designers challenge familiar forms, explore new possibilities and create work that speaks to the times they live in.

At AFWN 2025, Sarah Ajayi Collective brought this perspective to the runway through sculptural silhouettes, tactile detailing and a distinctive interpretation of African-inspired design. A Gold Award winner at Graduate Fashion Week 2025, the designer’s work speaks to a generation shaping African fashion on its own terms.

This is the conversation at the heart of AFRICA NOW: The Future Wears Africa. AFWN 2026 brings African fashion, culture and commerce into focus, placing the continent’s creative talent at the centre of a future it is actively defining.

THE FINAL CHECKS ARE NEVER JUST FINAL CHECKS.

A sleeve.
A hem.
A fitting.
A look.
A position.

Every small detail matters when the runway is the destination.

Backstage/Fittings was filled with the quiet concentration that happens just before a major fashion moment.

A hat can change the attitude of a look.

On the AFWN runway, hats have never been just an afterthought. From wide brims to sculptural shapes, they have been used to frame a look, add drama and make a statement of their own.

Across past editions, designers have shown just how much a strong piece of headwear can bring to a runway look.

Here are a few that caught our eye.

Which one would you wear?

FASHION, WITH A POINT OF VIEW

Style becomes more powerful when there is a story behind it.

At AFWL, every frame reflects a different perspective on what African fashion can be, where it can go and who it can reach.

This is design beyond borders.

Confidence takes shape in the silhouettes of Reddove RTW.

For AFWN 2026, the Abuja-based ready-to-wear brand brings its signature vision of confident femininity to the runway, creating thoughtfully designed pieces for every SHE.

Rooted in a belief that what a woman wears should meet her with confidence, Reddove RTW creates a wardrobe designed to move beyond Abuja, reaching women wherever they are.
