Our courses are designed to give you the technical know-how, plus encouragement and feedback to make a difference to your confidence and skills going forward. Group discussion, sharing successes (and sometimes failures!) are used to encourage dialogue between participants, so that everyone learns from each other.

"Just a note to say thank you very much for the workshop on Sunday. My friend & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. It was a beautiful little slice of escapism and a joy to be surrounded by proper artists; thank you for allowing us to play in your world for a short while!" Leonie Monks, Monotype Workshop participant, May 2026

Exploring Monotype | 8 evenings | October- December 2026

Explore different ways of making monotypes, through drawing, using stencils, applying and removing ink, from painterly techniques to combininations of all of these things!

Monoprinting is a fantastic way to experiment and develop ideas.

Artist Michelle Avison originally trained as a painter at the Slade School of Art, before studying printmaking, and has used monotype throughout her career in many different ways.

The 4 prints here were made from drawings done on a car journey. They involve rolling colour onto the plate, wiping away, and painting to add marks. They are small in scale, reflecting the original drawings which were made on A6 postcards.

has spent the HAUSPRINT Etching Year experimenting with organic forms and textures:

"This started off with studies of stones I had found on walks in the Lake District, then moved on to creating more abstract patterns through working the zinc plates with a variety of etching techniques. I then started cutting these plates into smaller and more varied geometric shapes. Finally I brought elements from this collection of material together, sometimes layering onto translucent Japanese paper, to print and collage a series of images in time for this show !"

Visit his prints at HAUSPRINT studio this weekend, Friday 4th-Sunday 6th September.

Meet Clare Winter from the HAUSPRINT Etching Year!

"I have been thinking about the ageing process, particularly how it affects women. These etchings have been transformed over time, marks added, covered up and scraped away. The finished image is something quite different to where it began."

Come and see Clare's amazing set of images at the private view on Thursday evening, 6-8pm. See you there!

This year, as part of the course designed to show students as wide a range of prints as possible, students on our HAUSPRINT Etching Year have had the opportunity to go to LOPF at Somerset House, the Wayne Thiebauld exhibition at the Courtauld, visits to the British Museum Prints and Drawing Room and the TATE Print Room and to Pauper's Press.

These visits support learning and create great opportunities to look at art- discussing together what we have all seen.

Our next HAUSPRINT Etching Year course has research trips and new visits in the planning. Want to find out more? Download the course outline from our website, DM or see link in bio
