BRCA National Round 2
Stafford Outdoor Raceway
Round 2 saw the drivers head north to the excellent facility at Stafford.
10 Ti22 drivers were present for this round over the 3 classes of FWD 17.5 and Modified.
Saturday saw the drivers complete 6 practice runs to familiarise themselves with the layout, which quite a few had not driven for 2 or 3 years.
Then it was back to the hotels for a few well earned drinks to cool down after a day in the scorching sun we had for the whole weekend.
Sunday raceday started with 1 Round of practice followed by 4 qualifying rounds and 2 finals. There was a bit of tyre strategy going on in all classes, with drivers picking their moments to gamble when to sit out to save tyres for that last best run in qualy or save tyres for the finals.
Here's how all our drivers faired over the hottest day of the year so far.
FWD
B Final
Iain Gordon 4th
A Final
Ethan Southall 2nd 🥈
Mark Young 8th - Top Masters 🏆🥇
Ethan had his work cut out still looking super fast but unable to take that win, but we're sure it won't be long.
Mark made the best of the weekend to finish top Masters driver, it's an age thing lol. Iain drive his best so far and came close this time for a podium finsh.
17.5 Stock
D Final
Frankie Fletcher 5th
B Final
Dani Young 2nd 🥈
Mikey Mansell 8th
A Final
5th Billy Fletcher
6th Ethan Southall
8th Chris Parrott
What a disastrous weekend for little Frankie, so many great runs spoiled by his lipo exiting the car, but at least no tears showing he's learning as he grows both on track and off.
We had indoor specialist Dani make a guest appearance for this round as Stafford has always been her favourite track and this weekend did not disappoint. So close to making the A Final it was hard to line up 2nd in the B and great result after not racing here or outdoors for the past 3 years. Mikey put in another solid result in 8th place.
Billy had one hand on a podium until leg 2 where he had grip roll or the fantom bump in the sweeper, who knows but this threw him off the track but he fought back to 6th. Ethan and Chris did a stella job to finsh 6th and 8th respectively.
Modified
B Final
Liam Tyrrel 9th
Not his greatest performance that we are used to from Liam and one he will want to forget, but with some of his favourite tracks coming up we're sure to see him rise back up to the top.
The next round up is the big one, Halifax at the end of June, will the weather be kind or could we see thise wet cars make an appearance?
See you trackside 😊
