Sixty years ago, a steelband stepped onto a Notting Hill street and a neighbourhood followed. It began with racist violence, riots in 1958 and the unsolved murder of Kelso Cochrane in 1959.
Today, Notting Hill Carnival is Europe’s largest street festival welcoming 2 million people across three days into one neighbourhood.
