A decade ago, a lady stopped me from going into the free weights room at the gym because she genuinely thought I wasn’t “allowed” in there.
She was trying to be kind. Back then it was called the pump room, and she thought I was about to walk into the wrong place and embarrass myself.
We had a chat, and I explained that women were absolutely “allowed” in there – it just wasn’t very common to see us in that space.
Thankfully, times have changed.
But there are still plenty of women who feel uncomfortable walking into areas of the gym they don’t know, or who worry they’ll look silly if they ask how something works.
So if you’re a woman who feels confident in that space, pass that confidence on.
Take another woman with you. Answer the question she’s too nervous to ask. Make room for her beside you. Help her realise she more than belongs there too.
It’ll change her life forever. 💪🏻🤍
Be Her.
