Still one of my favourite before & afters 🤍
When we finished the extension at the back of the house, the hallway still looked like something that had gone wrong in the 70s 😅 so I slowly started transforming it, and definitely on a budget.
The wall on the left will eventually come out if we get planning permission for our side extension, so I didn’t want to spend a fortune. But I also couldn’t live with peeling wallpaper, cracks, dents, damaged walls and tired carpets anymore.
I stripped what felt like four layers of wallpaper, repaired all the walls and ceiling, changed the banisters, painted everything, ripped up the old carpet, repaired and prepped the stairs, laid the flooring, installed the LED lighting (which honestly got me some of the biggest trolling I’ve ever had online 😂), fitted the runner and stair rods, and added panelling.
I actually changed the original panelling because it didn’t feel right for the age of the house. This is a 1940s home, so I redid it in a more 1940s style, and the panelling only cost me about £80 because I bought it in a sale.
The picture frames are IKEA, the lights are rechargeable, and I even used leftover kitchen flooring in the hallway to save money.
And now with the new front door finished too, the whole space feels completely transformed.
I think this is proof that if you take your time, research things properly, and don’t rush, you can completely change the feel of your home without spending a fortune 🤍
