I love people watching. Yeah, I’m beaky. I know it. I’m also a massive rule-abider. It’s more a naturally guilty face than a high moral standard but blimey, they’re raiding the breakfast bar and there’s raiding the breakfast bar. I took a peach once a few years ago and felt guilty about it 🙈

I spent every weekend until 18 on the water. Sailing. I learned to hate it especially when being reminded of my privilege and how most people would give a limb to spend damp cold weekends racing against other boats. (My dad was so competitive he’d race a frickin’ leaf in the water if there were no other boats around). I had the p**s ripped out of me at school for being posh but used to be able jibe a spinnaker moving the pole really damned fast (doing Cowes Week and Round the Island were mainstays in the calendar). Suffice to say I’ve not been on a boat much since. I have an enormous respect for the sea and have seen many things it can do. Today was an adventure then…. A water taxi that was very full. But the muscle memory is there…. Before I moved an inch to disembark I zipped my phone away and checked everything was secure… and then watched as some poor bloke’s phone fell from his pocket into the ol’ briny. Old habits. Weird. Not sure I’ll be doing it much more of it 🤨

Let’s play a game…. Staying in a resort. You’ve seen the mini bar prices. We’ve not taken anything from the mini bar. There are four restaurants here. Two are closed (out of season) one is mainly eggs (I don’t like eggs) and another is fine but ate there yesterday. Feeling a bit low/tired didn’t want to walk anywhere. So we went to this place on site. The first picture is grilled vegetables. The only thing missing from that plate is the aubergine I tried and spat into a napkin (had completely gone to seed). The battered fish tasted too fishy and the chips were chips. Husband had chicken (it actually looked pretty much identical to my fish). How much money do you think we paid and what did you think we said when asked ‘how was your food?’ I feel an enormous privilege to be sitting here in the sun looking out at the sea and having the money to be able to do that. The resort is beautiful so less of the ‘many a fool and their money…’ comments please and just give us a wild guess.

As usual, here 2 hours early sitting in the lounge eating a very limp slice of white toast. I’ve not had nearly enough drugs for that moment they close the door on the plane but can’t peak too early… it’s a fine balancing act of taking enough to get me through the tough spots but not so much to be insensible and harassing Dara O’Briain with (no doubt) interesting witticisms of which I have no memory. Still… through security without hitch and ok enough for now. Wish me luck. It’s my own fault for wanting another holiday so don’t feel too sorry for me 🥰

Love this photo of my eldest and I on our walking holiday last month. Putting our heads together. Already thinking about next year’s leg and wondering if we start where we stopped this year or go for somewhere else. Definitely carrying along the UK coast… a part of me thinks we should just start where we stopped this year and see how far we get.
