He's lining up the Basso Venta R for its photo.

"You don't own the bike" 😫

It's the most common reason people skip Cycle to Work.

And honestly, it's a fair thing to question.

But here's the thing: you're not supposed to own it at first.

That's exactly what makes the saving possible.

Because it's classed as a hire rather than a purchase, the monthly payments come out of your gross salary before tax. No income tax. No National Insurance.

You save 32 to 42% depending on your tax band.

By the time the scheme ends, you almost always end up owning the bike.

Either through extended hire (a small refundable deposit, ownership transfers when the bike hits year four) or by paying the depreciated fair market value outright.

There's one real thing worth knowing before you sign up: what happens if you change jobs mid-agreement. We've broken it all down on the blog (comment BLOG and I will send it to you).
