I thought it was the perfect time to try out one of the Usborne craft kits for myself last night. I chose mermaid embroidery set as part of my free allowance and gave it a go, it was lovely to switch off and stitch and reminded me of being 7 again when I was really in to this sort of thing! I still got a similar sense of creative accomplishment that I remember from way back then!

The steps were simple and self explanatory, it took me a couple of hours to complete. There are a set of instructions to extend and do more if your child completes the first bit and wants to carry on.

Evening all! I haven't been working on the Book Nook for months as I've been back to work following maternity leave. However I've had quite a few requests recently for activity books and home learning books as well as fiction locally.

Morning! It's nearly the big day and stalls are finished for this year!! Before I put my feet up I thought I'd reduce some stock that I've got left over in readiness for new releases!

Really sad news today about the issues facing The Book People, fingers crossed they can be saved! This doesn't need to affect school libraries though, please contact me about free books for school libraries! Here is a recent school haul of free books, over £2,000 worth of books that they didn't need to use any of their budget for!

Who else loves a quiz on Christmas day?! I really love the Usborne Christmas Quiz book for children and adults aged roughly 6+ (however even Isbabelle would know the answer to 'what is the name of the creatures who help Santa?'!)
