Over the past weeks we have been sharing fragments from STILL STORY: COLOUR, the second chapter in the Still Story series created by photographer Agenda Brown. This second part returns us to Alice, where colour is worn, felt, and brought into daily life. Colour is held against the body, in fabric, in objects, alongside the materials from which it emerges.
STILL STORY I: BACKCASTING was the first chapter with Alice, a reflection on memory and the creative life. A way of understanding how the past continues to shape the present, and how early influences endure. The second chapter, STILL STORY: COLOUR, moves this thinking from origin into expression, from memory into material. For us, colour has never been decorative. It is a language that holds emotion, instinct, and narrative, drawing on a lifelong immersion in books, pattern, and imagination, and finding form through the discipline of making.
STILL STORY was Agenda’s vision: to portray artists and visionaries in a way that encapsulates their practice as well as their image. He had a rare ability to create space for reflection, allowing ideas to surface with clarity and depth through his lens.
Seen together, these two parts form a complete gesture; colour as it is made, and colour as it is lived. A portrait, and a language of expression.
