The 5935A lets you read the time around the world at a glance, while the flyback chronograph takes care of the moments in between. The rose-gilt dial makes all that information unusually easy on the eye.

Not every great integrated bracelet watch of the 1970s was designed by Gérald Genta.

The original 222 was created by Jorg Hysek and launched in 1977 to mark Vacheron Constantin’s 222nd anniversary. Its 2025 return in steel keeps the same compact 37mm proportions, complete with the small gold Maltese cross at five o’clock.

Nearly fifty years on, the design still feels entirely at home on the wrist.

Both share the familiar snowflake hands and 200 metres of water resistance, but their personalities could hardly be more different. The Black Bay Fifty Eight keeps things understated, while the Black Bay Chrono arrives in yellow with no intention of blending in.

In 1981, the Nautilus found a new proportion.

The ref. 3800 translated Gérald Genta’s original design into a more compact case of approximately 37.5mm and introduced a central seconds hand, bringing subtle movement to the dial.

One designer, four years apart, and two watches that changed the shape of luxury sports watchmaking.

Gérald Genta designed the Royal Oak in 1972 and the Nautilus followed in 1976. Decades later, the 16202ST remains close to the Royal Oak’s original simplicity, while the 5712/1A takes Genta’s Nautilus case into more complicated territory.

The best travel companion is the one that remembers the date when you do not. ✈️

On the Patek Philippe 5524G, the solid hand moves to local time while the skeletonised hand remains at home. Adjust it across midnight and the date changes with it, forwards or backwards.

It is a lot of information for one blue dial, especially inside a white gold case only 8.42mm thick.

A chronograph that doesn’t immediately look like one.

By matching all three counters to the khaki “Grande Tapisserie” dial, AP keeps the 26240ST remarkably calm for a watch with a flyback chronograph, date and small seconds.

The complications are there when you need them. The green gets the rest of the time.
