So here’s a little community request in the interests of safety primarily 😀 But also as I see so many people complaining that they’ve not received their parcels….
Tonight I left the shop at 4.50pm to make a delivery to an address just 20 mins away (20 mins there, 20 back to Uttoxeter making ETA for home approx 5.45pm, not too bad i thought….
EXCEPT despite having the Farm name, the Road name & the postcode I didn’t actually hand the bouquet over until 6.11pm 😳 Why you might ask??? Well top and bottom of the story is that there was no actual House/Farm name on the gated entrance 😣 so despite going up and down the lane 3 times, passing said gate each time, knocking on neighbours doors (rural area)
I only actually found it because I decided to have one last attempt (before ringing my customer) and venture down what looked like a field entrance….for about 1.5 miles to a house that had the name plaque in kitchen window right infront of me 🙄 Now there was no real harm done for me except a massive waste of time and nearly a quarter of a tank of diesel used (more than the delivery charge paid)
But if your still with me this far, my point is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure your houses, homes, shops, offices or other business premises are clearly numbered or sign posted for your own benefit - this situation that I found myself in tonight could have been so much worse had I have been an emergency service coming to save a life or hose your burning house down - and even more so in the dark cause you’d never find it!!
I remember some years ago the Emergency Services in conjunction with NHW did abit of a combined promotional thing trying to encourage people to name & number their homes for this reason especially x
