John Frederick Herring jnr. (British 1815-1907). Son of J F Herring snr. the renowned equestrian painter.
Herring was influenced by his father's style and subjects, so much so that he did not begin to exhibit at the RA until 1863 so as to avoid confusion with his father's work.
Herring junior's paintings are distinguished by a natural palette and the ability to convey the rhythms of the rural and sporting life.

Thomas Creswick (English 1811 - 1869). Oil on panel of a bucolic scene with grazing cattle. Creswick followed the 18th century tradition of landscape painting that had been theorised by Uvedale Price and William Gilpin and developed by artists such as Gainsborough and Richard Wilson. Creswick was one of the better known artists of the Birmingham Scgool. He was elected RA in 1851.

Introducing a rather special book: The Adventurer in Spain by S R Crockett, published in 1903 by Isbister & Company, London.
The book has the bookplate of Lt. Gen. Robert Baden Powell,1st Baron Baden-Powell founder of the Boy Scouts Association and it's first Chief Scout.
The book has a dedication 'To Olave from Wilfrid 1911'
Olave was Olave St. Claire Soames, Lady Baden-Powell the first Chief Guide for Britain and co-founder of the Girl Guides.
