Local knowledge beats the big names — every time
I needed a carpet for a tricky double dog leg hallway and started with Tapi, who were pleasant enough. Their AI-generated measurements came through with a quote of around £1,400 — even with a sale on. Something didn't sit right, so I went looking for a local independent instead.
I found Budget Carpets and spoke with Ray, who was brilliant from the start. He took the time to properly explain the quirks of measuring an awkward hallway shape, got the correct measurements (significantly more than Tapi's AI had estimated), and tracked down the exact same carpet I'd originally chosen. His quote came in at £950 — saving me several hundred pounds for a better service.
From placing the order to fitting completed and the old carpet taken away, the whole job was done within five days. Knowledgeable, unhurried, and genuinely helpful. Ray is exactly the kind of person you hope to find when you support a local business.
