A beautiful evening on Wednesday as we raised a glass to September’s exhibition, “Last Orders” by Camille Biddell.

Slab-built in terracotta and decorated with an eye-catching palette of slips, Camille’s work is intricate but full of the freedom of fast, skilled hands. Working with wet slip and slabs means construction sometimes needs to happen quickly — and that energy is captured beautifully in the finished pieces.

We love the join lines and the depth created through texture and layering, as well as the joy that comes from handling her work.

September is set to be a fitting send-off to summer, with an abundance of colour, pattern and fun in “Last Orders”, an exhibition of Camille Biddell’s joyful terracotta slipware. She’s sent us an incredible selection of mugs, watering cans, candleholders and gold-kissed baskets

Our September exhibition, “Last Orders” by Glasgow based artist, Camille Biddell opens next week Wednesday.

Camille hand-builds almost all of her pieces in terracotta, embossing each slab with pattern and decorating it with vibrant slip before bringing it into form. Working quickly with wet slip keeps her process dynamic and full of surprises.

In Camille’s words, she hopes her work “playfully mixes references into something decadent and fun” - from British boozers to the Baroque.

Opening night is Wednesday 2nd September 6-8pm on Hackney Road, we hope you can join us to celebrate this playful, colour-filled collection
