Just framing up this mid 50s Travel Association poster for a customer, and it is so much better ‘in the flesh’ than I remember from the photos on my website.

It’s both the scale (40 x 25 inches in this case) and the quality of lithographic printing that photos don’t always convey

It’s the last couple of days of our instore sale, before we close the gallery at 18.00 Saturday 13 June.

25% off everything, with some extraordinary additional offers on Saturday.

After the shop closes we’ll be online (mainly) and at fairs and events.

The end of an era for sure, caused by the unrealistic costs of running a high street shop. But we remain in business with new collections to launch in the autumn (including 60s/70s rock and post punk). And we’ll be working with several museums over the coming year (more info coming soon).

Thanks to everyone who has supported the shop and do come and grab a last minute bargain before the removal van arrives.

Original silkscreened concert poster advertising ‘Sunday at the Saville’ with appearances by Traffic, John Mayall, The Long John Bawdry Show, and Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. Designed (of course) by ‘Hapshash and the Coloured Coat’ (aka Nigel Waymouth and Michael England), September 1967.

Great to see a first edition of this fantastic Sixties poster (which has been much reproduced in recent years).

Bowie fans - what is this ?

I just found it under some carpet in the loft.

Looks like a central image is missing.

Google tells me that Bowie released a cover of Wild is The The Wind in 1976, but there is a lot that I don’t understand about the wording of this card backed notice:

“At the Palladium - two live shows a night”
“First appearance for D Bowie in London”

What do you reckon ? I’m stumped

Gallery Closure

After five years in Cross Street, Islington, we’ll be closing the doors of our gallery for the last time on Saturday 13 June.

I’ve had a brilliant time running the shop, but dramatically increased costs mean that having a ‘bricks and mortar’ premises is no longer viable.

Instead, we’ll be focussing on the online gallery, with new collections and regular blog posts, and attending more live events.

In the run up to closure, we’re having an instore-only sale including many items that are not on the website.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the shop. Do pop in before we finally close and please continue to follow the website for our next poster discoveries.

Wow! A blast from a very distant past.

This would be 1997, I think. Newly qualified as a curator, hence the embarrassing preoccupation with post nominal letters !

A great museum to work for: Caernarfon Castle, Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Graves, Kyffin Williams, St Davids Day traditions, and ……….a goat who was regarded as a member of the regiment.
