☀️ AUGUST ROUND UP ☀️

Goodbye summer! We loved the sunshine... but our chocolate buttons and flakes weren’t quite as keen. A few heatwaves meant some delivery headaches, but we’re now ready to swap iced drinks for something much more exciting...

🍫 Autumn is HERE. But before we dive headfirst into Hot Chocolate Season, here’s what we’ve been up to this month:

👋 Goodbye Phoebe - This month we said a fond farewell to our incredible Associate Director and all-round “get it done” hero. After five amazing years with Islands Chocolate, Phoebe leaves a huge legacy and will be missed enormously by the whole team.

🎉 Welcome Tamzin & Charlotte -
Two brilliant additions to the Islands family! Tamzin joins us as National Account Manager and Charlotte as Marketing Executive. They’ve hit the ground running and we’re delighted to have them on board.

📚 Service95 - Charlotte & Claud took the Islands cart to the HQ of SERVICE95 , the global culture platform founded by Dua Lipa, serving up iced chocolates and introducing the team to all things cocoa.

☀️ TOP 3 CHOCOLATE FRUIT COOLERS TO SURVIVE THE HEATWAVE 🧊

Heatwave #4... or is it #5? We’ve honestly lost count. 😅
In the South of England, iced drinks have become a daily ritual, hand fans are a handbag essential, and we’re all doing whatever we can to stay cool.

Time to bring back our 3 favourite fruity chocolate coolers. They’re refreshing, indulgent, and guaranteed to satisfy both your thirst and your chocolate cravings.

🍓 Raspberry Matcha 🍒 Black Forest 🥭 Mango Cooler

🍓 White Chocolate Raspberry Matcha

Matcha is still reigning supreme this summer, and when paired with our creamy 37% White Chocolate and sweet-sharp raspberries, it’s easy to see why.

You’ll need:
• 360ml milk • 35g 37% White Chocolate Buttons • 3g matcha powder • 1 tbsp hot water - we love Good & Proper Tea  • 30g raspberry purée - (blitz some deforested Frozen Organic Fruits and Vegetables, Smoothie Kits + more raspberries and pass through a sieve)

Method:

✨ Whisk matcha and hot water into a smooth syrup.  ✨ Heat 70ml milk and melt the white chocolate into it. Add the remaining milk and chill.  ✨ Pour raspberry purée into a glass.  ✨ Add ice and the white chocolate milk.  ✨ Slowly pour over the matcha using the back of a spoon for those dreamy layers.

🥭 White Chocolate Mango Cooler

Creamy 37% White Chocolate meets tropical mango for the ultimate sunshine sip.
For an extra holiday vibe, swap your milk for coconut milk. 🌴

You’ll need:
• 360ml milk (or coconut milk) • 35g 37% White Chocolate Buttons • 50g mango purée (again - get yourself some Frozen Organic Fruits and Vegetables, Smoothie Kits + more 🥭)

Method:

✨ Heat 70ml milk and melt the white chocolate.  ✨ Add the remaining milk and cool.  ✨ Pour mango purée into a glass.  ✨ Add ice and top with the white chocolate milk.  ✨ Finish with whipped cream and an extra swirl of mango if you’re feeling fancy.

🍒 Black Forest Milkshake

The dirty burger of chocolate drinks. Bold, indulgent, and absolutely unapologetic.

Rich cherry ripple ice cream, cherry purée, and our 45% Hot Chocolate Powder combine for the ultimate summer treat.

🌴 JULY ROUND-UP 🌴
Here’s hoping we’ve broken the back of the summer heat and normal chocolate service can resume! ☀️

While our inboxes are filling up with Out of Offices, it’s been full steam ahead at Islands HQ, with preparations for Hot Chocolate Season well underway.

It’s with a heavy heart that we bid a loving farewell to Ned, our retail and Uniqlo extraordinaire 💔

…and Jamie, or Craig as he sometimes goes by, our Commercial Director and all around great guy! 🙌

☕️ Making Mochas Great Again
We hosted our inaugural Breaking the Mocha innovation competition, challenging some of the coffee industry’s most creative minds to reimagine the mocha and push flavour boundaries.

Didn’t make it to the top spot but Daniel Codd’s drink definitely won our hearts. Big thanks again to MOMA for providing the all important Oat!

Jonas Rosales and Adrian headed over to the wonderful team at Climpson & Sons to chat all things cocoa and share a little of The Islands Way.

🐶 Luna has effortlessly secured Employee of the Month status by brightening everyone’s day and maintaining excellent morale across the office

🛒 Bringing Iced Chocs to Bromley
Max and our cocoa cart took over Waitrose Bromley, sharing refreshing iced chocolate samples with shoppers and spreading the Islands Chocolate love.

Classic and Mint iced chocs went down a STORM 🍫🌿

⭐️ STARS IN OUR EYES
Our Original 45% Powder secured a 1-Star in this year’s Great Taste Awards

And Wilf gave it the love it deserved! 💘💘💘

And finally… Our tins had a MEGA Tesco rollout! You can now grab your favourite hot chocolate across 800 UK stores 🚀🚀🚀

MOCHA 2.0

On Tuesday, we hosted our inaugural Breaking the Moch innovation competition.

Guests were challenged to reimagine the mocha, experimenting with exceptional coffees, chocolates, cocoas, brew methods and alternative milks to create something entirely new.

A huge congratulations to our winner, Bettina (Cynthia Szold), Bettina’s Mocha: a winning combo of 45% Powder and 55% Milk Buttons, Apricity’s Watermelon Slice Coffee and Wildrr’s Macadamia Milk. Innovation, flavour, texture - it had it all.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us, shared ideas and pushed the boundaries of what a mocha can be. And, of course, thank you to our fantastic partners and sponsors:
