How to Create Your Own Bug Hotel

Want to give your garden a little helping hand while getting creative with things you might otherwise throw away?

Why not build your very own bug hotel! 🐝🐞

Bug hotels provide a safe place for all sorts of helpful garden visitors, including solitary bees, ladybirds, beetles, woodlice and other minibeasts. And the best part? You don't need to buy lots of new materials — you can recycle and reuse what you already have.

Look around your garden, shed or garage for things such as:

🌳 Old logs and branches
Broken terracotta pots
Old wooden pallets
🎋 Bamboo canes
🍂 Dry leaves and pinecones
🧱 Old bricks
🌿 Hollow stems and garden cuttings

Simply stack or arrange your materials somewhere sheltered and dry. Different materials and different-sized gaps will attract different types of bugs.
