Perfumed Passions: 'A Man's Cologne' from Gravel.

Created in 1957, this is a classic, combining all of the wonderful, traditionally masculine, cologne notes - citrus at the top, warm woods, greens and spices at the heart and a hint of incense. Sophisticated and elegant but hirsute, it even has a pebble from the Hudson River (NYC) in the bottom of the bottle! Launched when men wearing fragrance in the US was considered groundbreaking(!), and as effortlessly classy now as then.

I have a weakness for warm smokey scents in the winter. 'Sain No More' from Nosu is based on the Scottish tradition of 'Saining', where the home is blessed and cleansed with juniper smoke to welcome in the New Year. This rather spiritual fragrance adds a dash of incense to the burnt herbs and berries. Warm embers.... and fresh beginnings. Add a cashmere scarf and I'm calm, cocooned and ready for almost anything!
