Our sincere condolences to you James and all your family...
Sadly, on the 28th January, John Cartwright passed away at home with his family. He was a dear friend to many & a devoted family man. John will be missed.
In Johnâs younger years, he enjoyed rally driving, which included taking part in the RAC Rally. A keen angler from youth, this continued and he would regularly fish in Ireland with his eldest son James. He was a qualified microlight pilot and flew Flex Wing and Fixed Wing aircraft, only recently retiring from piloting. He enjoyed many flying trips in France with some terrific people and this included flying the French coast, French Alps, Swiss Alps & the West coast of France.
As some of you know, John was born and raised in Yorkshire, Doncaster. He married Liz in the 1960's, and last month was their 55th wedding anniversary. Johnâs work at British Rail saw them relocate south to Derby. In the 1970/80âs, a few years after his move to Derby, he began rally driving. This hobby sparked the beginnings of his new business, Terratrip. Terratrip grew and he said goodbye to the railway to build the business further. Step forward 20 years and Eddie, Johnâs younger son, began working within the family business. Together they developed the business further, creating new innovations. Eddieâs passion for flying rubbed off on John and MicroAvionics was another logical business direction.
Both businesses will continue to run under the management of Eddie Cartwright and the skilled Terratrip & MicroAvionics team.
Many of you will have spoken to John by telephone or email over the years. He will be sadly missed by all.
