My mum passed away in the first week of January - a week before her birthday on the 14th and ever since, i've chosen to take my big annual holiday in that time to honour her because she was my first travel buddy and instilled in me the joy of seeing the world - all of it, the good the bad and the spectacular. Apart from life, it's the greatest gift she gave me and i'm forever grateful to her for teaching me to be fearless. This was an unscheduled stop, and it so reminded me of family holidays we had at Sun resorts.

I have exactly the same holiday - in different countries.. this part's what i call the 'city slicker' which usually entails visiting as many museums and galleries as i can cram in a short space of time. loads of walking around the city, street food & little local eateries + some form of live music, usually jazz... this is the Vietnam Women's Museum. what i find really fascinating about indigenous cultures is the similarities in their beliefs, aesthetics and cultural practices. there are so many 'we also do this' moments. it's my joy.

not gonna act unimpressed by having wifi onboard - thought that only happened on business class & such... this song's been on HEAVY rotation for a couple of months now, bellow along to it all the time - never bothered looking up the album title till today and it's so apt.
