Valuing people and creativity - Jewellery designed for a fairer world. Just Trade collaborates with artisans around the world to create stylish, desirable handmade jewellery. Founded in 2006 by Jewellery Designer Laura Cave, Just Trade is a collaborative, innovative brand. Born out of first hand contact with real people in the developing world and the recognition that in order for small fair trade projects to be sustainable, they need a long-term route to market for their goods. Just Trade now works with eight groups of artisans in Peru, Ecuador and India.

Trip to the Tate! 🌸 We were absolutely exhausted after Top Drawer so decided to take half a day on Friday to enjoy some quality time with our good friend Kelly from WorldFinds Fair Trade and what better place to visit than Tate to see Frida: The Making of an Icon

Fantastic couple of hours seeing the artworks in real life that inspired our version of the iconic hand earrings which we created exclusively for Tate Shops to accompany the exhibition, running until 3 January 2027.

Artisan made in Peru, each pair is hand-cut and polished from aluminium by Lizeth, Naty and Tricia from the metalwork team at Hope Jewellery in Lima. We particularly love the tiny fingernail details, each one individually stamped by Lizeth 🥰

Just Trade team trip to Hever Castle & Gardens! 🏰

With several members of the team working part-time and remotely, it’s a rare treat when we all actually manage to see each other in real life!

This summer, we almost managed the full team and had the best day out at Hever Castle, with Sophie bringing the whole family along for the fun.

Bonnie and Theo embraced everything Hever had to offer: ice cream, historical re-enactments, archery, the water maze, adventure playground and, quite possibly, the most important activity of all… more ice cream. 🍦

Meanwhile, the rest of us took a slightly more refined approach, enjoying an informative wander around the incredible castle and beautiful grounds, as well as a good catch-up with the wonderful Ashley, Head of Retail — our very own King of the Castle! 👑

Laura also managed to sneak in a cheeky bit of filming with Ashley for the socials, because apparently no team day out is complete without creating a little content along the way!

Naturally, we started and finished in the gift shop where we had a good look at our jewellery and admired the new crocheted decorations. Bonnie also persuaded Laura to buy her rubber shaped like mobile phone which she has been making “calls” on ever since, and absolutely no one knows who she is chatting to… 😂 A brilliant day we really must do it again before next Christmas! 🏰

Happy International Dog Day! 🐕

We work with many different communities around the world, with people who speak different languages and have very different lives. But wherever you go, there always seems to be a dog story to tell!

Whenever we work with artisans to bring these stories to life through crochet, carving, fabric or metal, there’s always a real sense of excitement. Dogs have a wonderful way of connecting people, and we love seeing them interpreted through different skills, materials and traditions.

So, to celebrate International Dog Day, here are just a few of the dogs we’ve brought to life over the years: from Murray, the therapy dog from Manchester Museum, and Barry from St Albans, to the late Queen’s beloved corgis and Callum, whose portrait hangs in the National Galleries of Scotland.

Every dog has a story, and every handmade dog has a story behind it too. 🐶

Stunning new Eden Project × Just Trade collection 🌷

Our jewellery has been stocked in the Eden Project gift shop for several years now, so when they approached us to develop a bespoke collection to coincide with their 25th birthday celebrations, we couldn’t have been happier.

The collection takes inspiration from three very different plants found at the Eden Project: Mimosa pudica, Coffea arabica and Anigozanthos – Kangaroo Paw.

We chose to interpret each plant using a different jewellery-making technique, bringing out the character of each in its own way.

Each plant comes from a distinct environment, and we wanted to honour that diversity by interpreting each one through a different jewellery-making technique.

The glass beads reflect the striking colours of the flowers of the Kangaroo paws, while the skilful cutting and hammering for the Mimosa designs is reminiscent of its intricate, delicate leaves.

The coffee leaves presented a new challenge. We went through several iterations, experimenting with different textures, folding and rolling techniques before settling on the final design. The result is lightweight and wonderfully light-catching and once again, Lizet and Naty from Hope Jewellery have absolutely nailed the perfect finish.

The backing card features beautiful illustrations by Just Trade’s own graphics team reflecting elements of each of the plants that inspired the collection.

The collection is now availble to buy exclusively from the Eden Project gift shop and online. We hope you love it as much as we do!
