This runway documented skirt was designed by Ralph Lauren for the Spring 2003 ready-to-wear collection. An identical skirt opened the show, worn by supermodel Natalia Vodianova with its striped braces over a crisp white shirt. It bears the purple Ralph Lauren Collection label associated with the house’s luxury womenswear and the design follows earlier interpretations of classic menswear, reworking pinstripes, tailored pencil shapes and braces into a distinctly feminine silhouette.

The pencil skirt is tailored from substantial cream cotton worked with alternating black and grey stitched pinstripes. Particularly distinctive are the blue, black and cream striped braces, which attach to metal buttons inside the waistband with rich leather tabs.

This ethereal wedding dress was designed by Clare Waight Keller for Chloe and presented as part of the brand’s Pre-Fall 2016 lookbook. Vogue highlighted the “overall carefree spirit” of the collection. Tailored from white chevron lace with a recurring chevron pattern, it gives the appearance of a blouse and maxi-skirt. The sleeves are cut to a billowing balloon-cut which are cinched at the wrist with a button and then form delicate split cuffs which fall over the hand. The skirt is tailored from coordinating lace and cut to a full, swirling silhouette which falls to the floor.

2009 Zac Posen Runway Cream Silk Knit Dress and Cardigan Ensemble

This sensuous sheer-knit dress and coordinating jacket walked the runway as part of Zac Posen’s Spring 2009 collection. The unusual construction was singled out in Vogue’s review, which described the collection’s dresses as “Perspex-plated”, referring to the hard, iridescent elements incorporated within the knit. We are delighted to be able to offer the original ensemble which has stayed together.

Both pieces are made from a luxurious cream blend of silk, linen and cashmere. The open weave is doubled around iridescent mint-green and cream Perspex discs of varying sizes, trapping them within the knit and giving the fabric a three-dimensional, almost armoured appearance while remaining sheer.

Zuhair Murad established his house in Beirut in 1997 and began showing couture in Paris in the early 2000s. His reputation grew rapidly through his particularly glamorous form of couture.

This extraordinary gown was created for Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2003 Haute Couture collection. The density and intricacy of the handwork across this couture gown is exceptional. Across the bodice and sleeves, elaborate burgundy embroidery and beadwork forms climbing vines and florals, punctuated with tiny sage-toned leaves and red beaded berries. The skirt is worked with swirling antique-gold foliage, further embellished with burgundy vines, flowers and tiny tonal sequins.

This top was designed by Isabel Marant as part of her Pre-Fall mainline collection and featured in the season’s lookbook. It is crafted from pure silk printed with florals that recall an English country garden, set against contrasting panelled backgrounds of black and white. The top is cut to a billowing, louche shape with a wrap-around silhouette and frilled details which play to Marant’s laid-back Parisian attitude.

This gown was the final look in the lookbook for Giambattista Valli’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection. The season was defined by ease, and this gown is generously crafted to a free-flowing style from sheer silk-chiffon. The pale cream, feather-light silk is printed with smudgy, painterly florals in raspberry pink, chartreuse and lilac.

Taking its lead from the brand’s couture tendencies, Valli’s ready-to-wear designs remain playful and inherently wearable. Made in Italy, the dress is an elevated take on a 1940s tea-dress silhouette with caped shoulders forming short, fluttering sleeves. The waist is cinched by a wide waistband crafted from ruched, printed silk to create a cummerbund effect. The skirt is full and floor-length, with swathes of silk that swirl around the wearer as they move.

This dress is in excellent condition with no issues of any note. 100% Silk and labelled an Italian size 42, which equates to a UK 10 or US 6. The fabric has no stretch.

This extremely rare, documented Chanel dress walked the runway as part of Chanel’s Spring 1988 collection and can be seen in the background in one of the runway shots, behind a similar dress. The skirt is tailored from cotton to a full-skirted midi-length that recalls 1950s styles. It is printed with black and white vertical stripes and blown-up motifs of Chanel’s house flower, the camelia, in contrasting rainbow hues of red, yellow, blue and green.

The bustier top is crafted from black lace with a scalloped edge and is b***d inside. At the neck, a wide satin ribbon forms a large bow at the front with three Chanel buttons which have been added later: two pearls with gold-toned metal double-C logos and a central black button smothered in black rhinestones.

In 1987, Chanel famously celebrated the launch of the No. 5 Eau de Parfum and Karl Lagerfeld designed oversized accessories honoring the house’s fragrance heritage, including the belts featuring the iconic “No. 5” perfume bottle motif. This Chanel perfume belt is from the original 1987 collection. The belt was also featured in the 1987 ad campaign where it was worn by Chanel muse, Ines de la Fressange. Lagerfeld went on to showcase variations of this belt on the runway during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Crafted from 24ct gold plated metal curb chains, two conjoined chains circle the waist. Three further chains loop down and hang over the waist. It is finished with a weighty perfume bottle charm which reads “Coco Chanel”.

This maxi gown was designed as part of Christian Lacroix’s Spring 2006 collection. Patchwork prints were a recurring theme and garments appeared to be constructed from an eclectic mix of textiles, most likely designed by Lacroix himself. A near-identical version of this dress appeared on the runway, in an alternative arrangement of striped silks.

This piece is cut from sheer silk chiffon printed with a faux patchwork effect, creating the illusion of assembled scarves. Panels in warm tones of orange, terracotta, lilac, and pale pink sit alongside sections of white, soft brown, and deep chocolate. Elsewhere, teal meets burnt orange, while forest green clashes with candy pink. The tailoring is billowing, with the chiffon cascading around the body as the model walks.

A dramatic documented piece from Julien Macdonald’s Spring 2013 collection, this striking silk cape perfectly captures the sensual glamour that defined the season. Inspired by Sharon Stone’s character in Basic Instinct, the cape was styled over a high-cut bodysuit, where it billowed dramatically behind the model.

Expertly crafted from lightweight, semi-sheer silk crepe, the cape features hand-dyed graduated horizontal panels that fade from deep black into a soft peach-blush pink. The generous cut creates an elegant, enveloping silhouette, while the hem is subtly shaped to fall shorter at the front before sweeping dramatically to floor length at the back.

This versatile piece can be worn comfortably across sizes XXS to XXL, making it an adaptable garment equally suited to styling over eveningwear or body-con silhouettes.
