AA RESEARCH ARCHIVE

At the heart of Aro is our research archive — a collection of over 12,000 garments spanning the 1800s to the present day.

Built over more than 20 years, the archive specialises in Japanese, French and Belgian fashion, with a particular focus on the more wearable side of design and the evolution of clothing across decades.

The collection includes menswear and womenswear, with extensive holdings of knitwear and printed material.

The archive is a working resource for design houses, museums and educational institutions, providing access to original garments for research, reference and study.

In a market so culty and oversaturated, especially menswear, it’s nice to know we’re still the best lol

I’ve been running shops officially since 2008 — through the recession, pandemics, family deaths, rebrands, bad landlords, con men, bad hires and all the other day-to-day s**t that comes with running an independent business.

It’s been hard, to say the least. I’m probably more stressed than I’ve ever been, my cortisol is through the roof, I work 7 days a week and have done for the majority of my adult life. But this is what it takes to stay on top after so long. Aro is my everything and, despite all the madness, I genuinely wouldn’t change it for the world.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. We genuinely wouldn’t be here without your love, loyalty and dedication.

We’ve been really struggling lately, and the kindness, patience and understanding that the majority of you have shown us means more than you know.

Starting back in 2016 with our STRUT LONDON shops in London Fields and Stoke Newington, through to staff portraits by our forever favourite Harrison Tsui and scanning some of our favourite things for the Super Fan editions.

This Saturday 18.07.26 collaboration launch with PURE S*X x Batcave x Aro Archive

PURE S*X presents a week long pop-up at Aro Archive Shoreditch.

Kicking off with a launch party at 7:00pm on Saturday the 18th of July 2026, celebrating the first look of its exclusive collaboration with the legendary London club night, The Batcave.

Coinciding with the London opening, a simultaneous PURE S*X pop-up will launch in Tokyo, marking the brand’s next chapter with parallel events in two cities synonymous with influential street style and underground fashion culture.
