Fresh out of the oven: the fourth run of our Quinn the Fox playing cards.

Do you remember when we shared the first design, the Queen of Hearts, during the dark days of the pandemic? Who would have thought there would be hundreds of these decks scattered across the globe a few years later?

This blog was inspired by a conversation with @/tatsukun85, who asked where a photo we posted was taken. We replied, rather wryly admittedly, “Sorry, I’m bringing back gatekeeping.”

He eventually found the location of the photo himself and we are still on talking terms (we think?). But it made us wonder whether there was more behind that throwaway comment.

When the answer to everything is available instantly, the act of finding starts to lose its romance. Taste and knowledge require a little friction and a little pursuit.

When the thrill of the chase is gone, does our willingness to stop and ponder go with it? And in an age of AI, where so much of what we share can be scraped, processed and fed to other people, shouldn’t we be allowed to hold something back for ourselves?

We went to Sissinghurst Castle Garden on a research trip for a new illustration and the wild cottage gardens and brick tower felt like something from a storybook.

It seems so strange that people travel across the world to visit theme parks and see artificial versions of castles, forests and fairytale villages when we have so many real ones of our own.

There is so much about the English countryside that inspires Quinn the Fox: the romance, the softness and, most of all, the liquidity of light.

Places like this are a reminder that we don’t always have to look for fairytales in faraway kingdoms. Sometimes they are right on our doorstep.

A dead letter is a letter that cannot be delivered and carries no return address. But in Quinn the Fox’s world, nothing written from the heart is simply thrown away.

In search of a letter from a missing friend, Quinn arrives at a hidden postal outpost run by animal Postmasters, who sort and interpret letters that never reached their intended recipient.

Human adults may have long lost the ability to speak to animals but children still can.

Unfortunately, this becomes a problem when a girl in a red-and-white polka-dot dress accidentally becomes the only thing standing between Quinn and the letter that might reveal what happened to his missing friend.

For those who still believe in the art of the handwritten note, our Quinn the Fox correspondence cards are made from 400gsm 100% Yamato cotton paper, paired with bespoke illustrated envelopes and finished with a gold foil embossed fox.

A handwritten note does not need to be perfect. After all, it is the wobbles in our penmanship that show our sincerity.

The third run of our Quinn the Fox Playing Cards is officially sold out!

Our cards have been dispatched to all four corners of the earth but nowhere more so than the USA. At least one deck of our cards resides in more than half of the states, with Iowa being the latest to be converted.

Our dream is to turn the whole map gold. If your state is still uncharted territory, Quinn awaits.

For those who still believe in the art of the handwritten note.

Just released, our Quinn the Fox notecards are printed on 400gsm 100% Yamato cotton paper, chosen for its soft ivory tone and tactile finish. The surface gives a gentle, controlled feel when writing, allowing ink to sit cleanly without bleeding or feathering, while drying quickly enough for everyday use.

Paired with bespoke illustrated envelopes, each notecard is finished with a gold foil embossed fox at the top. Every set is presented in a “burnt persimmon” coloured box (if you know, you know).

As with all Quinn the Fox products, we want you to use them, not leave them sitting in a drawer “for the right time”. Use them for thank-you notes, congratulations, introductions to new neighbours, invitations and even apologies. A heartfelt letter does not need to be perfectly written. It is the flaws in our penmanship that reveal our truest sentiments.

The Post Office of Dead Letters is now live.

The next chapter in In Search of Deities is now available as an illustrated digital chapter, featuring a brand new 64-page story, exclusive colour illustrations and development sketches.

In search of a missing letter from Bounty, Quinn arrives at the Post Office of Dead Letters, a mysterious postal outpost for letters that never reached their intended recipient. In Quinn the Fox’s world, nothing written from the heart is simply thrown away. Instead, these lost letters are gathered, protected and sorted by Postmasters, who work quietly beyond the notice of humans until they can work out where each letter belongs.

At the centre of this hidden postal system is Minty, a white cat Postmaster with a taste for smoked kippers, trashy documentaries and a professional commitment to delivering every letter to its rightful recipient.

What begins as a simple search for a letter from a friend soon becomes something far stranger: a journey into lost letters, the hidden systems behind ordinary life and a clue to Quinn’s past.

A signed first-edition print, correspondence cards and a Special Delivery bundle are also available to accompany the release of The Post Office of Dead Letters.
