135km of mud. Three RL1s. One brutal, beautiful ride.
This weekend we took on the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche in one of the muddiest editions in recent memory. Deep mud, slippery gravel sectors and bikes completely caked from start to finish.
The route is never easy.
135km of rolling Tuscan roads with ten gravel sectors through the Crete Senesi. Around 43km of dirt, constant ups and downs, and steep climbs that arrive without warning. With heavy rain turning the white roads into thick mud, it became a seriously tough day out.
Three RL1s lined up. Three RL1s finished. Not a single mechanical.
Built for speed on climbs and flats, with tyre clearance that makes sense when the conditions turn rough, the RL1 handled everything the course threw at it.
The day before we watched the pros tackle Strade Bianche roadside, with Tadej Pogačar lighting up the race as only he can.
Mud. Gravel. Chaos.
Exactly the kind of riding the RL1 is made for.
