Your brand doesn't stop at the logo.

It carries on through everything people see, wear, use and keep.

Your team's clothing. The products you hand over. The thing still sat on someone's desk three months after the meeting.

When those all feel like the same business, the brand looks considered.

When they don't, it looks like several different companies borrowing the same badge.

So the question isn't how much merch. It's which pieces, for who, and why each one is there.

Less catalogue chaos. That's the bit we help with.

It’s not suit vs polo.
It’s whether it fits the room.

The debate around Andy Burnham’s casual dress code has sparked plenty of opinions.

Should leaders wear suits?
Should they dress more casually?

Personally, I think it’s missing the real point.

What you wear says something before you’ve even opened your mouth.

A suit can look authoritative.
A polo can look approachable.
A hoodie can feel exactly right.

Any of them can also look completely wrong in the wrong setting.

The point isn’t formal versus casual.
It’s context.

Who are you meeting?
Where are you going?
What are you representing?
What impression are you trying to leave?

The same applies to branded workwear.

Putting your logo on a polo doesn’t automatically make your team look professional.

Putting everyone in a suit doesn’t automatically make them look credible.

The strongest brands choose clothing that fits the people, the environment and the job.

Because the best-dressed brand isn’t the smartest or the most casual.

It’s the one that got the context right.

The apparel and workwear side of Lemon Monkey is now live.
I didn't want to build another clothing catalogue that leaves buyers opening twelve tabs, guessing sizes, comparing colours, checking brands and quietly losing the will to live.
So it's built around how people actually choose workwear and branded clothing. Browse by product type or sector, filter by brand, sizing and availability, compare colours and garment options, then build a useful quote brief without starting from a blank page.
It covers uniforms, hospitality clothing, event apparel, activewear, hi-vis, practical workwear and everyday branded clothing.
The idea's simple. Less catalogue chaos, better product direction, clearer quote briefs, smarter choices before anyone wastes time going backwards and forwards.
It's still early-version territory, so I'd genuinely rather hear what gets in your way than receive polite applause. If something's clunky, tell me.

England 3, Mexico 2. A win built under pressure.

Mexico hadn't conceded a single goal all tournament. Then Bellingham scored twice in 98 seconds. England went 3-1 up, had a man sent off, survived 40 minutes with ten men against the host nation at a hostile Azteca, and still held on.

That's usually what separates the teams that look good on paper from the ones that get the job done. The shirt matters, the badge matters, but under pressure everything has to work together. The plan, the people, the discipline, the details, the ability to adapt when it stops going neatly.

Branding works the same way. Your logo matters, but it can't do the whole job alone. It needs the way your business shows up behind it. The workwear your team wears. The products you hand out. The event kit people see. The welcome packs that carry your name beyond the first conversation.

Chosen properly, they reinforce the brand. Thrown together without thought, they look like a team with no formation.

That's what Lemon Monkey is built around. What's it for, who's it for, where will it be used, will people actually keep it? Because the strongest brands don't just have a badge. They have an identity people recognise, remember and trust.

One brand. Many touchpoints. All pulling in the same direction.

Today is the 4th of July.
Here's the bit most people forget: independence wasn't the end of the story, it was the start of the hard part. Declaring it was one afternoon's work. Building something that lasted took decades of decisions, course corrections, and learning what worked from what didn't.
Turns out that's true of most things worth building. Including a brand.
Anyone can stick a logo on a mug. That's the declaration. The harder part is everything after: choosing products that actually fit, that people keep, that say the right thing about you in a client's hands or on a stand or worn on site months later. That's not one decision. It's a lot of small ones, made properly.
That's the bit Lemon Monkey is built around. Not "here's a catalogue, good luck," but the questions that turn a logo into something that lasts. Who's it for. Where will it live. What should it say. Will it still be earning its place a year from now.
Because the declaration is easy. It's what you build afterwards that people remember.
Independence. Identity. And the far less glamorous business of getting the details right.

Frankenstein’s monster wasn’t the problem. The build was.
A hand from here. A foot from there. A head that didn’t quite match. A few bolts, a bit of lightning, and then everyone acted surprised when the finished thing looked slightly alarming.
That’s how a lot of branded merchandise ends up.
A pen because someone said pens are useful. A hoodie because someone liked the colour. A tote bag because it was cheap. A mug because there was budget left over. A giveaway from a catalogue page nobody really understood.
Individually, some of those parts might be fine. Stitched together with no clear purpose, audience or outcome, the result feels assembled in a storm.
Branded merchandise shouldn’t be a monster made from spare parts. It should fit the job.
What’s it for? Who’s it for? Where will it be used? Will people actually keep it? Does it suit the brand? Can it be produced properly in time?
That’s what Lemon Monkey is built around. Our Smart Adviser narrows down product ideas by purpose, audience, budget, quantity and timescale, so you’re not wandering through catalogue chaos with a torch and a nervous expression.
The right merchandise is useful, memorable and effective. The wrong mix just lurches about frightening the villagers.
Lemon Monkey is alive.

World Meditation Day. 🧘
Sometimes the best decisions come when you slow down, cut the noise and focus on what actually matters.
Branded merchandise works the same way.
Thousands of options, endless catalogues, and a simple job that somehow turns into a two-hour rabbit hole ending on a stress ball shaped like a hedgehog.
The wrong starting point is “what can we buy?”
The right one is “what are we trying to achieve?”
Lemon Monkey’s Smart Adviser helps businesses focus on the brief: purpose, audience, budget, quantity, timescale and desired outcome. From there, it narrows the options to products that actually fit the job.
The right product doesn’t just carry your logo. It supports your message.
Useful products. Smarter choices. Stronger brand presence.

Why branded promotion matters more when the economy slows down
When the economy slows, most businesses tighten up. Budgets get reviewed. Marketing spend gets questioned. Anything that doesn't look essential gets pushed into the "later" pile.

That reaction is understandable. But it can be costly.
The OBR's March 2026 forecast puts UK GDP growth at 1.1% for 2026. The Treasury's April 2026 survey of forecasters averaged just 0.6%. The Bank of England held Bank Rate at 3.75% in April, with its Agents' Summary describing activity as "barely growing" and businesses in cost-cutting mode.

In that environment, customers take longer to decide, compare more carefully, delay spend and remember the brands that stayed visible while others went quiet.

Visibility isn't vanity
Brand visibility is how businesses stay in the customer's mind between buying decisions. Not every customer is ready to buy today. Some are researching. Some are waiting for budget. Some have no need right now but will in six months.

Go quiet and you risk being forgotten. You've handed mental space to a competitor who kept showing up.
The smarter response isn't to spend more. It's to spend with more purpose.
Branded merchandise isn't just "free stuff".

Poorly chosen merchandise deserves criticism. No use, no relevance, no connection to the audience means clutter. Landfill with a logo on it.
But that's a failure of selection, not the channel.

A well-chosen branded product stays with the customer. On a desk. In a bag. Worn on site. Used in meetings. Kept after an event. Repeated exposure with no ongoing media cost.
For SMEs without big campaign budgets, that staying power matters.
The problem is catalogue chaos.

Thousands of products. Endless variations. Most businesses know they have a need but not which product fits it.
That's where money gets wasted.
The wrong starting point is "what can we buy?" The right one is "what are we trying to achieve?".

Purpose changes the product. Audience changes it. Budget changes it. Quantity changes it. Timescale changes it.
In a slow economy, relevance beats volume.
One useful product outperforms a box of cheap throwaway items. Quality workwear delivers lasting visibility. A thoughtful gift strengthens retention.
The channel works when the product fits the situation.
Why this matters for Lemon Monkey.

Lemon Monkey is built around this problem. Not to throw another catalogue at businesses, but to help them make better decisions from the start.
The Smart Adviser starts with the brief: purpose, audience, budget, quantity, timescale and outcome. From there, it narrows options to products that fit the job.

The wrong product gets forgotten. The right one gets used, kept, worn, shared and remembered.
Visibility matters. Waste matters too. The smartest move isn't silence. It's more purposeful promotion.

Today is International Nurses Day. 🩺
Nurses don’t just treat people. They remember names, notice the small things, stay calm when everything else isn’t, and show up again tomorrow regardless.
In hospitals, care homes, clinics, community care and mental health services, they’re often the person who makes the difference between a frightening experience and a bearable one.
Today is simply about saying thank you.
To every nurse making a difference, seen and unseen. Thank you.
