Most trades only ever see the building site — not what they actually helped create.

We arrive when it’s dusty, noisy, unfinished and, sometimes, an absolute sh****le 😂. We do our part, pack the tools away and move on to the next job.

But coming back and seeing this place transformed into a stunning new dental surgery really made me think.

If I were a main contractor, I’d make sure every trade saw the finished project.

Because when you see how your small piece of work fits into the final picture, it gives that work a different meaning.

It’s not just flooring. Not just electrics. Not just decorating, plumbing or carpentry.

We’re all building the same finished picture.

Maybe seeing it more often would make all of us care that little bit more about the part we leave behind.

13 metres of hallway. Only 5 metres of space to work with.

Roll of Marmoleum in, onto the rollers and opened up ready for cutting.

The template for this hallway is around 13 metres long, but I’ve only got roughly 5 metres of clear space to work in — so cutting it means working through that template section by section, keeping everything controlled and, most importantly, accurate.

A few clips of how I managed the length, followed by a look at the finished floor.

But cutting it is only half the story…

Next video: adhesive down, then positioning this long piece of Marmoleum exactly where it needs to land. 👀

Carpet installation on an open timber staircase — without a single staple or nail. 👌

The challenge was protecting the finished wood while securely wrapping each individual stair tread.

The solution: UZIN Sigan 3, giving us a strong bond without hard fixings into the timber. Each carpet piece was individually measured, fitted and wrapped around the tread, keeping the original floating staircase design visible.

No nails. No staples. No damaged timber. Just the right method for a unique staircase.

Expensive stuff, defined worth measuring twice before cutting

240V - PORTAMIX PELICAN 1800W – 4 BAG MIXING STATION £1500 Collection Only Berkshire SL postcode.

Selling my Portamix Pelican professional mixing station with the powerful 1800W motor.

Used, but in great working condition. It has the usual marks you’d expect from a machine that’s actually been on site, but it’s been well looked after and the motor runs perfectly. The cart and its wheels move very well, like new. Comes with a new liner and the old one.

If you do a fair amount of smoothing compound, you’ll know what a difference one of these makes compared with mixing bucket after bucket.

I’ve personally mixed 4 bags of smoothing compound at once and the 1800W motor handles it with no problem and has the best mixing consistency I’ve seen on any mixing stations . Mix your batch, wheel the machine where you need it and tip it straight onto the floor while moving instead of puddles.

Main features/spec:

* Powerful 1800W Portamix motor
* Heavy-duty 2-speed gearbox
* Variable speed
* Proven 4-bag mixes with smoothing compound
* New mixing liner
* Heavy-duty mixing paddle
* Mobile wheeled frame
* Easy tilt-and-pour system
* Removable flexible liner for easier cleaning
* Mix, move and pour from the same machine
* Built for professional site use

It’s particularly useful when working on larger self-levelling/smoothing compound pours, where speed and keeping a wet edge matter. One person can be mixing a serious quantity without constantly lifting heavy buckets.

These are proper professional machines and built to take some abuse — not something you buy if you’re mixing two bags once a month, but a very useful bit of kit for someone regularly doing prep and larger pours.

Just because the pin is right… doesn’t mean the nail is. 😂

Welcome to the highly prestigious Gripper De-Nailing Championship. 🏆

Same room. Same grippers. Same tools. Stopwatch running.
No prize money, no sponsorship deal — just pride, bragging rights and a job that needed doing anyway. 😂

Sometimes you’ve got to make the boring jobs entertaining.

Welding marmoleum/ linoleum feels a delicate and a bit messy but after that final pass with the Mozart everything comes together in such a clean way. Love it!

Not the average polyprop Bang 💥 Bang job. 6h spent on 17 steps install. Hand tufted carpet without backing and patterns moving all over the place at the slightest wrong tension point. Got it decently aligned in the end but I would say patience matters more than skill.

The prep behind the coved part of the vinyl. Something that stays hidden but its crucial throughout the lifetime of the floor, good support and neat look. Tiled wall had the cladding trim at the bottom sticking out quite a bit, that’s why decided to fill it.
