Our first London showroom was established on Wigmore Street in 1875. Today, we reside not far away on Marylebone Lane. Here we house our piano showroom and Hall of Fame, recital room, practice facilities and administrative offices. We also restore and service pianos in our restoration centre, although we do not build new pianos in London - these are made at our factories in Hamburg and New York. T

he services we provide at Steinway Hall are varied and numerous. Our Concerts and Artists department supply pianos to major institutions across the UK, including the BBC Proms, and for artists such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Alfred Brendel. Through our Steinway Artists scheme we sustain the world's most gifted pianists - both established and up-and-coming. We aim to support music students in their studies through our 'All Steinway Schools' programme, which provides schools and colleges with a customised selection of our finest pianos. We also provide tuning, storage and removals services.

Noé Limited Edition in Midnight Blue.

This limited edition by Steinway & Sons captivates with graceful lines and an extraordinary colour design. Subtly lustrous midnight blue pairs perfectly with understated, blue-stained mahogany and lends the instrument a warm radiance.

Behind every Steinway is a team of highly skilled people, years of training, and an extraordinary attention to detail.

Becoming a Steinway technician takes seven years of training, with each technician trained in-house to the exacting standards that have defined Steinway & Sons for generations.

It’s the combination of craftsmanship, knowledge and dedication that helps make every Steinway what it is.

It takes about 8 hours, sometimes more, to get a Steinway piano ready for the Proms. 🎹

At the BBC Proms, the world’s leading pianists arrive expecting an instrument they can trust, and when the piano is right, they’ll choose to play it.

It’s a bit like football: you know which players you want on your team. You make sure they’re ready, prepared and performing at their best when the season begins.

The same goes for these pianos.

Years of craftsmanship. Hours of preparation. Meticulous attention to detail.

Because when the curtain goes up, the piano has to be ready.

Steinway & Sons has been supplying pianos from its London workshop for the BBC Proms since the mid-90s, meaning the team has access to the best and most suitable pianos for the musicians playing at the Albert Hall.

Ulrich has been in charge of concert and artist activities at the Proms since 1994, something he says is a real privilege.

Steinway & Sons is incredibly proud to supply pianos to the BBC, and to see our pianos as part of the prestigious Proms season.

The pianos that the BBC have bought over the years have all been Steinway pianos, leading to a long-established relationship. We have a wonderful team of concert technicians who are part of Steinway London, and every day we are in one of the BBC studios tuning pianos. The same team of tuners will look after the tuning of the Prom pianos. It’s a big responsibility, but something we are very proud of.
