The Second World War is often defined by vast armies yet some of its most consequential operations were carried out far from the conventional battlefield by small groups of men operating in secrecy.

Formed in Cairo in 1942, Popski’s Private Army, officially No. 1 Demolition Squadron, was one such unit, specialising in irregular raiding and reconnaissance operations.

L.R.D.G & Popski's Private Army. Estimate: £10,000 - £15,000.

An Abstract Horse Celtic Coin Prototype

Celtic Coins were struck from the 3rd century BC until 1st century AD and minted in the east all the way to Britain in the West.

This coin was minted in Gaul and believed to be struck by Gaelic Chieftains to pay British mercenaries before they were later taken back to Britain.

Can you see the horse? Some people compare the design to the Uffington White Horse but it has absolutely no connection.

Celtic Gold Stater minted in Gaul (c. 50 BC), 'Gallo-Belgic' type.
