Love this rejig of central London 1920s former coach house by , featured in this month’s issue of . The homeowners chose our Espira Corka for the hallway, living areas, bedrooms and showed how it can be applied perfectly to stairs too. They also chose a calming Steiner-inspired colour scheme which makes out the natural warmth of the cork beautifully.

Expert harvesters, known as descortiçadores, use simple tools and generations of knowledge to gently remove cork bark without harming the tree.

It takes over 25 years for a cork oak to produce its first harvestable bark — and it’s harvested only every 9 years after that. Talk about patience and craftsmanship.

No trees are harmed during harvest. In fact, cork oaks thrive because of it, living up to 200+ years.
