these type of posts tend to get the least engagement, so I thought i'd bury my diary thoughts in the caption today.
with every maternity leave, many women, including myself, find themselves at a crossroads with their career. Last time, my mental health and confidence took a hit, and my dream to be headteacher by age 30 flew out the window.
it wasn't all doom and gloom though, it made me reevaluate and look for 'where the money resides' and pivot into a data role, following a maternity leave spent refreshing my coding skills. and along the way, i witnessed the high and lows of building a start up, made incredible lifelong friends at work and got to be present for my family.
I now find myself nervously deciding to dream again and evaluating where i want to be - especially as we're turning 3 next month. It's easy to do it as a side hustle when there's a main job for security. It's a whole different thing when I have to build it to be sustainable from scratch.
Now as someone who is obsessed with supporting people's businesses, careers and side hustles, God had to knock some sense into me and point out that I can't support people to get to a place I myself have never been. Whether that's in my effort to change the curriculum for students in relation to entrepeneurship, or support my friends with solid advice for their businesses, I need to up my own game to serve better. But also, there's something thrilling about having a vision so big that I literally can't do it on my own.
So long story short; I'm going to the CEO of a successful kidswear brand. As a brand, we will be a story of victory. Because nursery fees are expensive. But also because I want our story to inspire you to pursue your victories too :)
time to log on to church - happy Sunday!
