LONESOME SUNDOWN – I HAD A DREAM LAST NIGHT / YOU’RE PLAYIN’ HOOKEY – EXCELLO
Dream is a swamped drenched rollin’ RnB stomper, Hookey has a teen almost Chuck Berryish sound. Both sides are super dancers.

SAM “HIGHPOCKETS” HENDERSON – GO, MOTHER, GO / TOO BAD, SWEET MAMA – GROOVE
Too Bad is tough and boots along with the flip taking us in a more jivin’ direction. I really can see the dance floors filling for both sides.

WILLIE WEST – WILLIE KNOWS HOW / IT’S NO USE TO TRY – RUSTONE
These recording capture a fleeting moment in 1961 where the 50’s faded into the 60s and RnB became Soul.

MILT TRENIER – SQUEEZE ME / ROCK BOTTOM – RCA
Squeeze me is reminiscent of Wynonie Harris’s version of Bloodshot Eyes with great vocal and huge big band style jump. The flip side Rock Bottom has the wildness of the Treniers.

DAVE BARTHOLOMEW – HEY-HEY / JUNK MAN- BROADMOOR
Fantastically funky New Orleans RnB two sider from the hugely influential Dave.

MR. SAD HEAD – BUTCHER BOY / MUMBLES BLUES – RCA
On Butcher boy Sad Head gives Wynonie Harris a run for his money as king of the blues shouters and he rivals Louis Jordan for pure exuberance.
