FULL BODIED BURGUNDY : flowers for a private, fine dining event at in the City of London.

Taking inspiration from the ornate decor of the venue’s neo-classical styled boardroom which also includes some baroque features… Carved wood panelling, plaster friezes and cornicing incorporating stylised flowers foliage and fruits.

This amazing historical venue is the official home of the ‘Worshipful Company of Vintners’ and the spiritual home of the UK and international wine trade. It has been the centre of wine regulation, charity and trade since the 15th century and still maintains strong ties to the modern wine industry today.

CRAZY CHRYSANTHEMUMS : neon pink spray painted and ‘splattered’ chrysanthemums provide the ‘focal flower’ for these tabletop arrangements.
Paired with alliums, pink geranium flowers, wild rambling roses, calla lilies and elderflower. - A COLOUR RIOT…

I’m loving these ‘fireworks™️’ chrysanthemums at the moment.

TOP TOPIARY : The Yew Tree Avenue at Clipsham -
Once a carriage driveway to Clipsham Hall the topiary avenue was initially developed by the estate’s head forester - Amos Alexander in 1870, with the approval from estate owner John Davenport-Handley.

Over 150 trees were clipped to depict different occasions, people of interest, family members, birds, animals, and famous events including the first moon landing and the late Queen’s coronation.

The avenue was subsequently maintained by the Forestry Commission until funding was withdrawn in 2010 when it fell into disrepair for a number of years until a charitable trust was created and the upkeep and maintenance reinstated.

The Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue Trust.

PAINT! PATTERN! PRINT! : a visit to the Fashion and Textile Museum to see ‘The Textiles of Susan Collier and Sarah Campbell’ exhibition. A fantastic, vibrant and uplifting walk through the extensive archives of these two sister’s work.
Seeing the traditional methods of textile design, creating clever pattern repeats reminded me of my own early drawing office days, using Rotring pens on tracing paper, scratching out mistakes with a razor blade and the intoxicating smell of ammonia from the analog ‘dye-line’ printing machine.
…what’s more, evoking memories of my first Habitat sofas covered in their iconic ‘Côte d’Azur’ fabric.

Thank you Emma Bier for the recommendation and sharing the memories…!!

OPEN GARDEN [+ WOOD] : a little, enjoyable diversion during our recent trip through the Cotswolds… to Biddestone in Wiltshire, visiting Garden and Wood - a business I’ve followed on instagram for a while now.
It was lovely to meet Louise and hear about their journey… seeing their home, garden and business, all in such a beautiful setting too. Thank you for accommodating our visit, especially ahead of your upcoming stint at RHS - Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show.
