Last but not least, our trip to Beijing, China! 🇨🇳

Taking a flight to Asia with snippets of our Thailand trip! We visited Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai & Bangkok 🇹🇭

The trip to Thailand covered almost the entire stretch of Country’s North, starting in Chiang Mai - the capital of the north - all the way up to the “Golden Triangle” where the Thai, Laos, and Burmese borders meet. The delegation immersed itself in a wide range of issues, including transnational organised cyber crimes, drug trafficking, human trafficking, cultural integration, and even environmental problems stemming from the civil war in Myanmar - all the while being in the real locations where such problems can be felt. They met with all levels of the region’s stakeholders; from policy makers and state actors all the way down to the local communities and the migrant workers. Between enjoying delicious food, learning inspiring stories of resistance, and partaking in authentic explorations of the local culture, the trip members came to fully appreciate the rich history of the peoples of Thailand and Myanmar: whose intertwined stories run as long and deep as the Moei River which separates them.

Next up, postcards from our trip to Geneva, Switzerland🇨🇭

In Geneva, our group of 13 Grimshaw members spent a week exploring the multilateral organisations central to vital global decision-making.

At the GCSP, we met Annika Hilding Norberg, a Grimshaw Club President from the 90s. We also met many other LSE alumni during our other visits, such as at the ILO, UNDP, Red Cross Museum, Lombard Odier, KPMG, WTO, Portail des Nations at the UN, and the World Economic Forum.

Over the weekend, we also escaped the city to enjoy the beauty of Montreux in the Swiss Alps and Annecy in France.

Here are some insights from our trip to Tangier and Rabat, Morocco! 🇲🇦

We are excited to share that our 2026 trip to Tangier and Rabat in Morocco has ended! We would like to thank everyone who participated and made the trip fruitful. Not to brag but we were able to enjoy beach days, visit the Blue City, trek to a waterfall, and receive a guided tour in Tangier. In the second half of our trip, we visited Rabat wherein we met with Morocco World News, ADFM, UNCHR amongst others. Apart from our academic focus in Rabat, we were lucky enough to witness Morocco’s iconic win against Haiti, learn how to cook our own vegetable tajines and bask in the sun ☀️ overall, our collective joy could not be contained and we cannot wait to see future iterations of this trip! 🌊⛱️

This year, Grimshaw hosted 5 trips all over the world — here are some highlights from our trip to Nairobi!

During our visit, we met with representatives from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the United Nations Headquarters in Nairobi (including UNHCR, UNICEF, OCHA, UN Women, and WFP), the EU Delegation to Kenya, the University of Nairobi, the Kenyan Red Cross, Concern Worldwide, World Vision, and the British High Commission.

From policy discussions with diplomats and development practitioners to conversations with students at the University of Nairobi, it was a privilege to hear diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities shaping international development in an increasingly complex global landscape, while gaining a deeper appreciation of the important role Kenya plays in addressing them.

Outgoing President Lili bids a warm farewell to the Grimshaw Club:

Perhaps the most valuable way of reflecting on my time as President of the Grimshaw Club is to thank the outstanding people I got to work with.

Grimshaw has been the beating heart of international affairs at the LSE since 1923. I’d like to thank the amazing Executive Committee - JY, Carmen, Judy, Paulina and Charlie - with whom I shared the challenge of carrying on this legacy in the Club’s 102nd year. Together, we won the LSESU Awards for Society of the Year (out of over 300 societies) and Society President of the Year, alongside receiving four other nominations and a Gold Star Award.

I’d like to thank all 50+ General Committee members involved in expanding our media presence and organising our weekly speaker events, embassy visits, fundraising initiatives, social nights and trips abroad. Thanks to you, Grimshaw welcomed a record number of 83 speakers this year across 48 events, spearheaded the London Diplomacy Ball, produced a record number of podcasts and blog posts and opened up international submissions to our academic journal for the first time. I’d also like to thank our 500+ members, spanning 65 nationalities, who brought enthusiasm and curiosity to all of our events.

Thank you to all the student societies we had the chance to collaborate with this year: from our longstanding friends at LSESU International Development Society LSESU United Nations Society 🌍 UCL Diplomacy Society UCL IR Society The Oxford Diplomatic Society SOAS Politics and United Nations Society KCL Diplomacy Society and The Beaver to the new and exciting collaborations forged with LSESU Italian Society LSESU Brazilian Society LSE Government Society and

I am particularly proud of the Executive Committee’s success in developing Grimshaw’s external partnerships, launching collaborations with the Oxonian Diplomatic Chapter , the and the charities UKUAT FLEX Programme , NKNet, and the Foundation for Family Medicine in Palestine. We were also kindly hosted by the Conférence Olivaint Genootschap in Brussels for the second year running. Another highlight of the year has been our engagement with the LSE Phi
