This is my introduction and profile from my Etsy shop which tells you how I got started in the antiques business and what my future plan are....

"My name is Jean-Pierre. I was born in London in 1961 and had a happy childhood growing up in a house where all the new glass ,china and cutlery were slowly replaced over time with their antique equivalent. My mother was the driving force of this trend and inspired my interest in antiques in general. We used to go around the junk/antique shops in the Dulwich, Peckham and Forest Hill area buying a wide variety of old keepsakes. Those shops unfortunately no longer exist.

In 1980 when I was 20 I set up stall in Bermondsey Antique Market selling general bric-a-brac, my mother Tammy along side me. Within a year we were specializing in cutlery restoration and giftware made from upcycled antique cutlery. We quickly made contacts with dealers and interior designers from all over Europe and America.

30 years after starting the business, life is good, I've got no complaints but, business has changed. Dealers no longer come over to fill up their container lorries with brown furniture and to then, in turn fill the drawers of said furniture with smalls such as our cutlery and gifts. I'm no longer a stall holder, I haven't been one for some years but, you may still see me around the London markets Portobello Road and Camden Passage rushing about trying to find all those lovely items that my customers just have to have. Those regular customers, some going back 30 years have kept me busy over the years. Now as the main bread winner of a young family the time has come to do something different, to get online.

Having been a bit of a technophobe all my life I have finally decided to break with tradition and get on the web. Etsy was recommended to me by a friend and after looking at the alternatives I realized that this new global market place would be ideal for me.

I've finally emerged from the dark ages and signed up with Facebook.Welcome to my first post.My name is Jean-Pierre.I work with antique cutlery,manufacturing and restoring a range of gift ware and cutlery,utilizing and upcycling old cutlery.I have a shop on Etsy called LondonCutlers where you can see some of my work.
(link is above).Once I get to grips with this platform I plan to post brief blogs -sometimes to do with products,other times writing about interesting stuff going on in my home town London.I hope that you will follow me so that we can go on this journey together.
