For fans of fun and freaky footwear, Nika Moćnik is the name to remember. The IFM Paris graduate and designer at Camper lets you into her whimsical world by putting you in her shoes, literally. Striking the balance between absurdity and functionality, Nika Moćnik’s design philosophy is as playful as it gets. Based between Slovenia and Mallorca, the colours of these contrasting cities burst through in her bold palette.
Her first collection began with a simple observation: what happens to our clothes and shoes when we get dressed in a hurry? The accidental twists, folds, and mismatched moments that usually go unnoticed often create unexpected shapes and intriguing details. Every pair is handcrafted in Mallorca by Nika herself, with the support of skilled local artisans. Each shoe is made entirely from deadstock leather provided by Mallorcan shoe factories, including the outsole, with a discreet rubber insert added for improved grip. Creating innovative shapes like, ‘The Wallabee Wannabe’ and ‘Turning Loafers’, Nika’s technical skills are as strong as her designs.
