more powerful equipment tends to have a cooling fan(s). While power valves normally run at 150-200deg C, a 10deg. C rise can halve the lifetime of solid state gear. Problem is that the airflow drags in fluff & dust, forming a cosy "blanket" over the heatsinks, reducing the cooling. End result: premature failure or, worst case, a small fire.
So if you want to maximise the reliability of you gear, clean it out to avoid it looking like the inside of a Hoover bag.
