What a year 2020 was, eh? Sorry it’s been ages since I’ve posted anything on my business page. Like everyone around the world, 2020 brought me some challenges and I buried myself into my knitting to keep busy and my mind focused on the positives.

2020 also brought good things into my life like my daughter finally taking up knitting for one!! That was the highlight of my year! I had tried many times over the past several years to get her to take up the hobby, but it took being in lockdown for her to finally give it a go. I call things like that the “Silver Linings”. I’m so proud of her because she’s got oodles of natural talent in her!! She’s coming along so beautifully, and we have another hobby in common. I gifted her a lot of my extras like needles when my husband upgraded mine, accessories, as well as yarn I no longer could remember what project I had bought it for or no longer wanted to do. She also got a few brand new accessories and knitting books for Christmas and her birthday. Needless to say, I am thrilled she enjoys knitting as it is truly a passion of mine.

I put loads of time and so much thought and love into every knitted item I create and love to. I enjoy sharing them with all of you too. Top row (l-r): a dress for a friend’s baby girl (sized 3-6 months), a cardigan for my hair dresser’s son who is due in February (sized 1-3 months, and that is my hair dresser holding her son’s cardigan). Bottom Row (l-r): An infinity scarf made out of Madelinetosh Pashmina yarn which is so soft, and a baby girl cardigan for a cousin’s baby (sized 3-6 months).

I love things that are unique, and I look for that when searching through patterns. This pattern is based on the Scottish flower called a Thistle. Half the pattern was ever so creatively designed to be thistles. The other half of the pattern is something completely different. I’m guessing it’s the stem of a thistle. Can’t wait to wear this newest creation!

It all started because I forgot to buy my son a birthday card when I was out running errands last week! An iPhone, Pinterest, pencils, paints, markers, gel pens and a few hours later....

I forgot to get a birthday card for my son when I was out the other day, so I looked at Pinterest then got out my watercolour paper, pencils, paints, markers and pens. Now I need to get it into the post SOON!! I think I’ll make up a few more of these!

I hope everyone is having a good start to their new year! I’ve been quiet lately because I’ve been filling my waking hours creating. My husband bought me this wonderful book by Amy Latte called ‘Hand Lettering for Relaxation’, and I’ve been working my way through it. It’s not always relaxing for me because I’m such a perfectionist person, but I’m working really hard on trying to let that go especially when learning a new skill. I’m surprised to find that I actually like the results of my artwork when I look back at it a few days after doing it. I’m also learning the importance of doing things in PENCIL then going over it with pens and markers!! 😂 I’m continuing to knit up things too and have a goal of learning 20 new knitting techniques this year. Is there anything you are working on this new year?
