How much fruit cake do you eat before a hike?

We picnicked next to the river before even starting our hike. Having packed up that morning at the campsite we were running late. It seemed sensible to fuel up before setting off up the hill. And fruitcake is quite heavy… so it was good to redistribute the weight 😉

“Maybe it should have been M for Marmots?!”

We have seen and heard so many on our walks this summer.

This hike was from Peuterey to Elisabetta. Stunning all the way. (It’s part of the TMB route.)

While we have been celebrating birthdays with family in the French Alps our Norwegian family has been on a fishing holiday in the mountains. How beautiful does this look?!

Steve, the dog, never far from the possibility of a picnic and some fuss.

What a walk! Heading out and up from Arolla the views were amazing. We reached the ruins of a shepherd’s hut where marmots seemed to have made themselves at home.

It was warm, but the weather was brewing. We knew we were in for a soaking later on.
