We’re throwing an impromptu party at the shop this coming Saturday 1st June at 2pm when we’ll be pouring wines from Cantina Giardino, Les Bottes Rouge and Michel Guignier, all from magnum.

VDS will be stacking the shelves with new arrivals and playing music on the system all day until 9pm.

Weingut Werlitsch

Ewald and Brigitte Tscheppe’s Werlitsch wines are considered among the finest in Austria and globally renowned for their exceptional white wines. They employ biodynamic principles and a hands-on approach, starting from manual harvest in the vineyard to cellar work. Fermentation for their wines extends upwards of a year, allowing them ample time to develop and evolve before resting for 18 to 30 months in barrels prior to bottling, some spending even longer than this in barrel.

Their wines primarily consist of Sauvignon and Chardonnay blends known as “Ex Vero,” with grapes sourced from different patches of their steep vineyard surrounding the family house. Ex Vero I originates from the least steep vineyards, while Ex Vero II and III come from rockier sections of the hill where machinery is nearly impossible to use. The presence of “Opok,” a chalky marl in the hill’s foundation, imparts distinctive traits to the wine.

These wines have endured the test of time and, are, unfortunately more and more difficult to find nowadays. A healthy rest in your cellar is advised!

Matassa

Born in New Zealand but raised in South Africa, Tom Lubbe trained around the world with many vignerons before settling in the Roussillon in the south of France. There he founded Matassa, now one of the most sought-after wineries in the movement we call ‘natural wine’. His approach to wine-making, which prioritizes assessing the taste of fruit over relying solely on science, reflects the values of old-world winemaking. This intuitive approach has become widely influential among today’s generation of winemakers.

Spanning 20 hectares of vines ranging from 60 to 120 years old, the organically certified estate is renowned for its approachable and high-quality wines made from Carignan, Macabeo, Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache. We only receive a handful of these wines every year so we ask that each customer limits themselves to buying a maximum of two bottles each.

Hailing from the Loire Valley, Domaine Les Vignes De L’Angevin, Jean-Pierre Robinot is an esteemed natural wine producer.

His estate spans seven hectares across two prestigious appellations, Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loir, where vines thrive in a unique blend of clay and limestone soil infused with indigenous plants. Fermentation occurs in ancient limestone caves, followed by meticulous ageing in seasoned barrels for extended periods.
