Wild and Woolly

Wild and Woolly Knitting supplies and support for anyone seeking new adventures with yarn.

I’ll help you find the right pattern, match it with lovely wools and needles, and I’ll be around to help count your rows, pick up dropped stitches and other unforeseens along the way. Pop in to wind your skeins, get some inspiration, or just to chat about how it’s all going.

Stories while we knit.
Getting lost but not in a tangle, voyaging across an ocean of nonsense, tramping over mountains in Spain, learning bad French in Paris, and following the mournful love of a bereft sister, knitting and purling all the way.

Thank you all for you long and short tales, especially our readers, Indy,
And huge huge thanks to the best bookshop in east London and possibly the world, Pages of Hackney for letting us use the space. It was perfect!

Don’t be sad if you missed it. We’ll be back for more stories while we knit in the new year. Sign up to the newsletter for dates.

Due to the extreme heat in London this week the Clapton shop will be closed today Thursday 26th June. The plan is to re-open as usual tomorrow.
That leaves one day left of our hothothot 10% online discount.

The heat is really on in London this week ☀️ . It looks like the mercury will peak on Wednesday and Thursday so we’ve decided to err on the cool side and keep out of the wool shop for those 2 boiling hot days.
It’s a bit of a last minute change of plan which I know can be irritating, so to make amends, we’ll have a fun flash sale across the site during the closed days. Perfect timing for anyone who wants to pick up some travel knitting supplies.

Join me on our trip to Mota de Cuervo, home of the Wooldreamers mill, and source of yarns that, in just a few years, have become a much-loved staple of all our knitting lives.
From sorting fleeces, to scouring, drying, carding, spinning, twisting and tying, there is endless care taken by the WOOLDREAMERS with every step of the production. Listening to Oscar and Mila explain how they work and why they do things this way, it’s plain that this about so much more than just a wool business - it’s about respect for a heritage which provided the legacy they have inherited, and it’s about the planet and the future. It’s about the shepherds, the sheep, and the mill folk and the knitters. It’s about all of us. It’s Ramon’s vision of a way things can be and it’s really working.
What a day and what an inspiration!
