The first time l had a stall at a record fair was in 1981 at Reading when it was held in the Town hall. After that l sold at all the legendary London fairs like The Ivanhoe, The Regent, The Royal National, The Bonnington etc and further afield in Brighton, Leicester, Wimbledon and Luton among others. The last fair l sold at was The Fairfield Halls, Croydon back in 1998. So with a gap of 27 years and now that I no longer have a shop to run, l've taken a single stall this Sunday, Feb 9th, at Windsor Record Fair (www.windsorrecordfair.co.uk) As I've no idea what people look for at record fairs these days I'm expecting people to be asking for records l didn't bring. Hopefully, after Sunday I'll have a better idea for future fairs.

As most of our regular customers will know, I am retiring and closing the shop on Saturday, June 15th.

Sounds Original Collectors Record Shop has been trading in Ealing for just over 40 years so as you can imagine we have built up quite a lot of stock. Starting next week on Wednesday, there will be lots of reductions on records, books, magazines and music papers. Visitors only please, no mail order at this time.

Most of the memorabilia that has been in our display cabinets is for sale along with the cabinets and other fixtures which may be useful for anybody thinking of opening a record shop.

After a break it is my intention to list any interesting records l have remaining or might purchase since closing, on Discogs, eBay and our Website. I also hope to have an occasional stall at various record fairs where l can enjoy meeting up with old customers.
Details when known will be posted on this page, but until then I'd like to thank our loyal customers, many of which l now class as friends, for their custom and support over all the years.

Happy birthday to TERRY DENE born 85 years ago today on December 20th 1938.
Discovered at Soho's famous 2i's coffee bar in 1957 BC (before Cliff), his stardom peaked and troughed within just two or three short years, but long enough for him to appear on Britain's first pop music TV show, star in a feature film and make a handful of hit records. Up to a few years ago he was a welcome performer at various rock 'n' roll revival events.

Born 100 years ago today on September 17th 1923 in Alabama USA, Hank Williams, the legendary country singer. Also a prolific songwriter whose songs were covered by artistes in many genres including pop, soul and rock 'n' roll. His dependence on alcohol and prescription drugs led to a fatal heart attack on new years day 1953 at just 29 years of age.

Born 100 years ago today in Galloway Texas, Jim Reeves, the easy listening country singer with the instantly recognisable voice. Popular not only in the USA, UK, and Germany, but also in South Africa and India. His records continued to sell long after his tragic death in July 1964 when the small plane he was piloting encountered a violent storm and crashed killing both Reeves and his business partner Dean Manuel. His style of singing may not be so popular these days, but nevertheless, he should be respected for his fine voice, his many hit singles and the fact he sold over four million albums.

Born 100 YEARS AGO today in Alabama on 5th January 1923, Sam Phillips, founder of the legendary Sun records label which introduced the world to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and many others.
