Guinevere Antiques

Guinevere Antiques This Aladdin's cave of treasures carefully curated from around the globe, imaginatively displayed.

The founder of Guinevere, French born Genevieve Weaver, trained as a hat designer in Paris in the 1950's. Having moved to London and started a family, she became drawn to the world of antiques. She opened Guinevere Antiques in 1963, in what was then, the disreputable end of the famous Kings Road, Chelsea. Today, the store is very much at the 'right' end of the Kings Road, and is surrounded by art

galleries, smart restaurants and interiors shops. Guinevere is now run by Genevieve's sons, Kevin and Marc Weaver. Her philosophy was one of mixing different styles and eras of furniture together - Ancient and Modern, East and West. Kevin and Marc have taken up these forward-thinking ideas by several notches. Their flair for combining styles of furniture and objects is still revolutionary in the antiques trade. 'What counts for us is that we have to like the piece and we have to be able to live with it', say the Weavers. It's all about the visual statement it's going to make in the room. The brothers travel around the world to source unique furniture, accessories and textiles for the home. Their journeys take them to India, China, America and continental Europe. What they bring back is a mix of gorgeous pieces that are a reflection of their taste.

Well… this escalated quickly. Our space has met its match 👀

Somewhere between “just one more piece” and “we simply couldn’t leave it behind”, the corridor seems to have taken on a life of its own. What started as a carefully curated showroom has quietly… spilled out the doors.

We like to think it’s a sign of something good. Too many beautiful things, not quite enough space, and absolutely no intention of stopping. Especially with the addition of some very special textiles from Epsillion in the mix.

If you needed an excuse to come by and explore, consider this it…

Treasures of the Week - New pieces have just landed across the showroom, and this is a glimpse of how they come together ✨

From the commanding eagle to the intricately carved mirror beyond, this vignette reflects the layered elegance that defines Guinevere London. Look a little closer and you’ll catch the soft reflection of a crystal cut chandelier, adding depth without overpowering the space.

Timeworn surfaces, rich patina and sculptural forms sit alongside statement jardinieres and gilt accents, as flamboyant as ever, each piece entirely unique.

Treasure of the Week ✨

Fresh from Parma Antiques Fair, a delivery of our latest treasures have quietly arrived in the showroom. Among them, this poetic 18th century Italian School capriccio artwork.

But Heather’s true treasure this week sits within the display, something far more intimate.

A 19th century Anglo Indian faded buffalo horn sewing box. Beautifully time worn, with sun softened tones and a sense of story in every detail. Today, it lives just as elegantly as a jewellery box. A piece that transports. For Heather, back to India, a place she has always loved.

Treasure of the Week - A room in Bloom 🌸

A piece that quietly transforms a space. This large early 20th century Japanese six-fold paper screen, with its silvered ground and painted branches and blossom, creates the perfect backdrop for layered pieces around it. Gilt frames, blue and white ceramics, lacquer and patina all find their rhythm against its soft shimmer.

Screens are endlessly versatile. They divide, frame, add height and bring depth to a room without ever feeling fixed. A true design secret for creating atmosphere and intrigue 🔍

We feel incredibly lucky to have known Valentino and to call him part of the Guinevere story. A true legend.

🔹A study in blue and white, explored through ceramics, lighting and texture 🔹

From 19th century Chinese powder blue porcelain to 18th century Delft, the pairing creates a gentle dialogue across centuries. Softened by Epsillion lampshades and other considered textiles, the pieces show how antiques can be styled with ease, whether layered on shelves, arranged on commodes or used to anchor a room.

It is always about the pairing. Objects, eras and materials coming together to feel collected rather than curated.
