020 3105 4711 I don’t believe that flavour should be confined by tradition, but should be the result of bringing together interesting, good quality ingredients that produce distinctive recipes that taste good. I came to the UK in the 1950s with my parents where I was raised in poverty in inner city Birmingham. It was here that my dream to own a farm in the British countryside began as I, the eldest boy, had the responsibility of helping my father tend the family allotment. From a family of eleven, living in a small two-up two-down, the sense of space and freedom that the allotment provided instilled in me a love of being outdoors, nurturing plants that would provide much needed food for me and my family. It took me over forty years, and a vary varied career, before I fulfilled my dream and bought my small farm in Devon.

Black History Month means something personal to me.
I was born in Jamaica and raised in Birmingham. My parents were part of the Windrush generation. Their story is part of Britain’s story and so is mine.

This October, I want us to celebrate the contribution of Black people to this country, including the people whose names never made the headlines.

The parents. The workers. The business owners. The people who kept going and made room for those who followed.
Remember their courage. Recognise their contribution. Give the next generation something to build on.

White City — the first date dilemma. ☕️❤️

You want to meet somewhere that says you’ve made an effort. But committing to a three-hour dinner with someone you’ve only spoken to online? That’s quite an opening gamble.

So come to The Black Farmer at Television Centre. Start with a coffee. Give it twenty minutes.

If the spark isn’t there, you can smile, finish your coffee and be on your way. But if you’re still talking, stay for lunch. Perhaps a glass of w**e. Let the date find its own pace.

It’s a relaxed place with plenty to look at, good food and no need to treat the conversation like a job interview. And first dates are welcome here at every age.
