Waaaa, making my escape from the Oxford Canal, they are closing it with just 48 hours notice, and who knows how long it'll be shut.
With the combination of low waters and crumbling infrastructure, boating is becoming increasingly difficult to plan and indeed do.... the future might be to have much smaller ambitions as to what routes, markets, and festivals we can actually get to.
And the future of the canals... well,.that feels more precarious than ever.
Hey ho... fingers crossed I don't get stuck somewhere silly x x

I will have a pop-up stall at Cropredy 13-15 Aug.
Please do come and see us, I'll try and bring plenty of good bits (just limited as not with the boat)

MK Canals is proud to announce the very first Wolverton Canal and Rail Festival, taking place in Wolverton Park on 12th and 13th September 2026 as part of Heritage Open Days.

This free community festival will celebrate Wolverton’s unique canal and railway heritage, bringing together local organisations, traders, volunteers, entertainment, and activities for all ages.

Across the weekend, you’ll be able to enjoy:

🚂 A floating market organised by the Roving Canal Traders Association
⛵ Heritage cruises aboard Electra, the all-electric canal boat
🚂 Community and heritage stalls along the canal towpath
⛵ Local traders and street food
🚂 Family-friendly activities and entertainment
⛵ Community organisations including the Inland Waterways Association, Buckingham Canal Society, Canal & River Trust, Cycling Citizens MK, Wild over Water, MK Beergarten, and more

Sunday 13th September will see the festival in full swing at the Railway Sports Ground at Lonsdale, Wolverton Park, with activities, presentations, stalls, food, and entertainment throughout the day.

It’s set to be a fantastic weekend celebrating Wolverton’s industrial heritage and community spirit, so save the date, invite your friends, and come and join us this September.
