Hatton Garden is London’s historic jewellery quarter and centre of the UK diamond trade. There are over 300 businesses and 60 shops connected to the jewellery industry trading and selling everything from traditional stones to handcrafted bespoke jewellery. This is complemented by a plethora of new businesses consisting of some of the UK’s leading media companies and quirky restaurants and cafes all of which add to the energy and creativity of the area. With its heritage, charm and eclectic mix of business, people and places Hatton Garden is unique.

Painted in 2022 by Alice Pasquini, the Generation Equality mural on Leather Lane is part of an inspiring global series led by UN Women.

The project celebrates the commitments made at the Generation Equality Forum in Paris and Mexico City - a worldwide effort to push for equal pay, end violence against women and girls, and improve access to healthcare.

The mural arrived during the first year of the global plan, bringing colour and conversation to the heart of Leather Lane. Famous for Leather Lane Market and its rich mix of cultures, Leather Lane was chosen to represent London - a fitting spot for a mural about progress, diversity, and positive change.
