I finished Before I Let Go and I’m still thinking about it.
This isn’t just a romance, it’s a story about grief, marriage, mental health, and the messy, complicated work of loving someone long-term. Kennedy Ryan writes with such emotional honesty that it almost feels intrusive at times, in the best way. Yasmen and Josiah aren’t perfect, and their separation feels painfully real, not dramatic for drama’s sake, but rooted in exhaustion, loss, and misunderstandings that build over years.
What I loved most is that this book treats love as something that requires growth. It doesn’t glamorise suffering, and it doesn’t rush forgiveness. The intimacy is there, yes, but it’s grounded in healing and accountability.
It’s tender, mature, and deeply emotional.
If you want a romance that feels grown-up and raw rather than glossy, this one really delivers.
