Mark Gladding has joined Art Angles, Long Stratton to celebrate the work of Lynette Gladding:

Lynnette Gladding studied Fine and Applied Art at Canterbury Christ Church University, graduating with a First-Class degree and Best Painter Prize. She moved to Norfolk a few months later to study for a Master’s degree at the Norwich University of the Arts.
Over the past ten years, her work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions at venues such as the Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury and the Lombard Gallery in Margate.
Having completed her Masters, Lynnette worked full-time as a professional artist.
When Lynnette went for a walk in the park or countryside, she was always looking out for skeleton leaves, wild grasses and flowers to use in making cyanotypes, a process which has become popular with artists as an alternative photographic art, partly because of the deep- Prussian blue tones and the hand-worked authentic feel.
Lynnette loved painting houses. The dwellings she selected to paint were places that she was drawn to because there was a desire to tell their stories … ‘If walls could talk.’
During her time at the NUA she discovered the joy and creative freedom of abstract art.
Starting a painting with a thought, memory, or feeling, she went on an adventure, unsure of what the outcome would be, responding to the process, medium and support.
Lynnette was inspired by the textures, patterns, and colours of the natural world.

Sadly, Lynnette was diagnosed with kidney disease and died in September 2025.

Jo, from Cottage Chook

The new artists and makers are coming thick and fast at Art Angles, and we're pleased to announce another newbie to our collective: Cottage Chook.

Jo launched Cottage Chook last year and set out to turn unloved charity shop fabric into gorgeous gifts and accessories.

Her superhero capes will help your little ones save the day and unleash their imagination, while her bags and baskets will help you stay organised and stylish. No two products are made from the same fabric combination, so pop in and browse her range for a one of a kind gift.

Jo's sewing skills are completely self taught. She started out by making dressing up costumes for her two boys, learning through trial and error over the years. And now we're delighted to have her beautiful products for sale at Art Angles in Long Stratton.

Hello, meet Linda Preece who was duty artist yesterday.
Linda says:
It was a busy day in the gallery yesterday, surprising as it was very hot out. There was a new applicant, on-going improvements to lay-out, several visitors and new artist Jane D’Arcy adding her lovely paintings to the walls. She is artist-in-residence today, so pop along if you fancy a Viewing and chat. 😄
