🩵 The Story Behind Bold In Threads 🩵
People often see the finished products, the colourful threads, the cheeky gifts and the shiny embroidery machine. What they don't always see is how it all started.
Back in 2016, I was made redundant. At the same time, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness and facing the uncertainty that comes when life suddenly takes a direction you weren't expecting.
I could have let those circumstances define me.
Instead, I bought an embroidery machine.
What started as a hobby quickly became a lifeline. Stitch by stitch, I discovered a creative outlet that gave me purpose, focus and something positive to pour my energy into.
Over ten years later, that little decision has grown into a business that supports me, challenges me and brings me so much joy.
What inspires me? Honestly... people.
The person who opens a parcel and laughs out loud.
The customer who says, "That's exactly me!"
The small business owner who trusts me with their workwear.
The friend buying a gift for someone they love.
Those moments never get old.
My creative process isn't particularly glamorous. Ideas arrive at the most random times. Sometimes I'm inspired by a conversation, a customer request, a trend, a funny phrase, or something that makes me snort tea out of my nose. 🤣
Then comes the experimenting. Tweaking designs. Changing colours. Testing fabrics. Stitching samples. Occasionally muttering words not fit for polite company when something doesn't quite go to plan.
Some ideas become bestsellers.
Some become lessons.
But every single one starts with creativity, curiosity and a love of making something a little different.
Bold In Threads isn't just about embroidery.
It's about resilience, creativity, finding joy in unexpected places and proving that sometimes life's biggest setbacks can lead you somewhere wonderful.
And for that, I'll always be grateful. 🩵🧵✨
